CARNIVAL IN Vilamoura, Algarve

Vilamoura carnival takes place during either February or March, depending on when Shrove Tuesday falls, and brings the streets alive with colourful floats, mesmerising costumes, amazing dancers, and live music that is sure to get you into the party mood.
The main carnival takes place in Loulé and Quarteira, which is not far from the popular marina, put everyone into a great mood. The main carnival street parades of the region are inspired by the fascinating Brazilian carnivals and gain loads of attention.
When the carnival is in full swing you will find parties across Vilamoura that boast a carnival theme, giving you the opportunity to dress-up and get involved in the festivities for yourself. Although there are parties that are only suitable for adults, you will find plenty of family fun if you are hoping to travel with your children.

Why not start your day by having breakfast followed by a relaxing swim in the heated pool at your hotel, and then get dressed up before heading to watch the carnival and join in with the fun? When you go to Vilamoura carnival, the more sparkly you are the better!
In the evening, find a bar that is hosting a carnival event, or head to a party where you can dance the night away. You may also be able to find costume parties or competitions if you have decided to get dressed up, which will add something extra special to your holiday.
Alternatively, you could choose to go to nearby Loulé which hosts its own carnival that has been running for over 100 years and is the oldest in Portugal.
